Issuing electronic receipts and invoices is simpler than it seems. What matters is knowing your tax regime, what paperwork you need and which way of issuing suits your business best.
First: your tax regime defines what you can issue
Under the Nuevo RUS regime you can only issue receipts and tickets, not invoices. If your clients are companies and ask for an invoice, you need to be in the RER, the RMT or the General Regime.
Changing regimes and choosing the right one is best reviewed with your accountant, since it depends on your activity and how much you sell.
The three ways to issue electronic documents
- From the SUNAT portal with your SOL password: it is free, but each document is filled in by hand. It works if you issue only a few.
- From your own system connected directly to SUNAT: the document is issued when you register the sale. It requires a digital certificate.
- From your system through an authorized provider (OSE or PSE): the provider sends the documents to SUNAT for a monthly fee.
What you need
- An active tax ID (RUC) in a regime that allows what you need to issue.
- A SOL password to access SUNAT services.
- A digital certificate, if you will issue from your own system.
- Registration as an electronic issuer in the option you choose.
- A sales system, if you want receipts and invoices to be issued automatically when you sell.
What we do
We build sales systems with electronic invoicing: when a sale is registered, the receipt or invoice is issued, with its PDF and delivery by WhatsApp or email.
The paperwork with SUNAT (digital certificate and issuer registration) is done by your company; we guide you step by step and handle all the technical setup.
